U.S. Energy Secretary Chu to Lead Delegation to IAEA 54th Annual General Conference

Washington D.C. - Beginning Monday, September 20, U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu will lead the American delegation at the International Atomic Energy Agency's 54th General Conference in Vienna, Austria. During his visit, Secretary Chu will deliver a speech outlining the U.S.'s priorities regarding the peaceful use of nuclear energy; strengthening nonproliferation and international safeguards; advancing disarmament; and securing nuclear material abroad.

While at the conference Secretary Chu will also host a series of bilateral meetings, and participate in a media roundtable event.  Other U.S. delegation members include U.S. Energy Deputy Secretary Daniel Poneman; U.S. National Nuclear Security Administrator Tom D'Agostino; and U.S. Department of Energy Deputy Assistant Secretary for Office of Nuclear Energy Pete Lyons.
