Fallon, host of NBC’s “The Tonight Show,” shared a picture of Michelle and President Barack Obama waving goodbye from Air Force One after the inauguration and asked if Michelle could share her thoughts about the moment.
“Bye Felicia!” Michelle asserted, prompting laughter from Fallon and the audience. (RELATED: Michelle Obama Rejects Holder, Hillary’s Comments About Civility)
“Bye Felicia” is a phrase made famous by the 1995 film “Friday” and is intended to be demeaning and dismissive.
“Is that what was going through your mind?” Fallon asked.
“A lot was going on that day … that was a day,” Michelle continued. “And right before that, my daughter’s friends decided they needed a sleepover for the last day. I was like, are you guys kidding me? We’re leaving!”
Michelle also seemed to mock the gift exchange between herself and first lady Melania Trump, who gave Michelle a large blue gift box from the famous jewelry store Tiffany’s.
“So there was that and the Tiffany’s box … it was just a lot,” she said.
In her new memoir, Michelle wrote that she will “never forgive” Trump for his involvement in the birther movement against her husband.
