A clean win: USPS honoured for energy efforts

Replacing lead acid batteries with cleaner hydrogen (H2) fuel cells has seen the United States Postal Service (USPS) receive an award from the US Department of Energy.

USPS received a Federal Energy and Water Management Award for its work at the Washington Network Distribution Center in Capitol Heights, Maryland.

Through a recent pilot programme, envisioned by Robert Borris, Plant Manager, and Sherman Williamson, In-Plant Support Manager, the facility replaced lead acid batteries with cleaner H2 fuel cells in 92 powered industrial vehicles, including forklifts, tow motors and pallet jacks.
