Latest US military deaths

As of Saturday, at least 2,272 members of the U.S. military have died in Afghanistan since 2001, according to the Department of Defense website.

An additional 20,404 U.S. service personnel have been wounded in action, according to the website.

In operations related to Iraq, a total of 4,550 members of the U.S. military have died. Another 32,328 U.S. service personnel have been wounded in action.

The department released the following information this week:

• Maj. Brent R. Taylor, 39, from Ogden, Utah, died Nov. 3 in Kabul Province, Afghanistan, as a result of wounds sustained from small arms fire. Taylor was assigned to Utah Army National Guard Element, Joint Force Headquarters, Draper, Utah. The incident is under investigation.
