Watch The View's Meghan McCain Go Down in Flames After Trying to Guilt Trip Michelle Wolf

When comedian Michelle Wolf appeared on Wednesday’s “The View” to discuss her controversial performance at the White House Correspondents' Dinner, Meghan McCain tried a novel approach to criticize her speech. Unfortunately for McCain, Wolf wasn’t particularly moved by McCain’s attempt at a guilt trip.

Wolf received a deluge of both praise and criticism after she spoke at the annual gathering, where members of the media dine with the political class they’re tasked with covering.

As co-host Sunny Hostin noted, Wolf was accused of sexism after she joked that White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders “burns facts and then uses the ash to create a perfect smokey eye.”

Wolf said she didn't really care about critics who said she was targeting Sanders' appearance.

“The people who did, I was just like, ‘Oh I thought you were smarter,’” Wolf explained. “Just listen to the joke. I think it says more about them.”

Whoopi Goldberg pointed out that Wolf made fun of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (“[He] isn't here. He had a prior engagement. He's finally getting his neck circumcised”) and former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.

“The best part of the night, I think, was when I said something about Chris Christie and they went over to him and he was eating panna cotta out of a little jar,” Wolf said.

That's when McCain, who had previously claimed Wolf's performance was a “gift” to the Trump administration, tried to corner the comedian.

“The association is saying it's considering having no comedians whatsoever in the future,” McCain said. “How would you feel if you killed another comedian’s job?”

“I mean, I don’t care,” Wolf shot back. “It’s not like a great job.”

“ think everyone that has ever done it has been, like, ‘Great. Now I don't have to do it again,’” Wolf offered. “I mean the whole time I called it a homework assignment. But it being, like, a gift to Trump: I don't think it was a gift to Trump any more than every single news show—and I put that in quotes, ‘news’—is a gift to Trump.”
