Upsets dominated Week 7 of the college football season, including the end of West Virginia's undefeated campaign.

The Mountaineers walked into Ames, Iowa, as one of the conference's best bets at a College Football Playoff berth. West Virginia left Jack Trice Stadium, however, with a 30-14 loss to a below-.500 Iowa State team.

Here's a look at where the conference stands in the Week 8 AP Top 25 poll.

Big 12 in the AP Top 25

No. 7 Texas (6-1, 4-0 Big 12): It's Week 8, and the Longhorns are the only Big 12 team with an unbeaten record in conference play. Texas squeaked by Baylor, 23-17, a week after putting 48 on Oklahoma's defense. Quarterback Sam Ehlinger was injured in this game, but it doesn't appear to be too serious. Texas was ranked as high as No. 5 by several voters and as low as No. 13 by one voter (Jason Galloway). Texas takes the week off before an Oct. 27 trip to Oklahoma State.

No. 9 Oklahoma (5-1, 2-1 Big 12): Welcome back to the top 10, Oklahoma. The Sooners were off this weekend, but they made enough headlines with their decision to part ways with defensive coordinator Mike Stoops. Oklahoma has TCU in Fort Worth, Texas, this Saturday. The Sooners were voted as high as No. 6 on two Week 8 ballots (Brian Howell and John Bednarowski) and as low as No. 14 by two ballots (Gary Smits and Jason Galloway — are you seeing a pattern?).

No. 13 West Virginia (5-1, 3-1 Big 12): As mentioned earlier, the Mountaineers fell to the Cyclones. West Virginia was still included on every AP Top 25 voters' ballot. The Mountaineers were ranked as high as No. 11 (Ben Jones, Brett McMurphy and Neill Ostrout) and as low as No. 22 (Keith Sargeant). West Virginia is off this week before playing Baylor on Thursday, Oct. 25.

Receiving Votes

Texas Tech (4-2, 2-1 Big 12): The Red Raiders were voted as high as No. 22 (Steve Layman) and four voters had Texas Tech at No. 25 on their ballots. Texas Tech beat TCU on Thursday, but it'll need to impress the voters a little more to get back into the rankings. Up next for the Red Raiders: Kansas on Saturday.
