GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Former congressman Peter Meijer has dropped out of the Republican primary race for Michigan’s open U.S. Senate seat, saying the “fundamentals of the race have changed significantly” since he launched his campaign in November.

“Without a strong pathway to victory, continuing this campaign only increases the likelihood of a divisive primary that would distract from the essential goal — conservative victories in November,” he said in a statement.
