Ben Youngs followed Jamie George’s example and volunteered his time to help England’s women this week, with the head coach John Mitchell ridiculing suggestions these are PR stunts.

Youngs took time out of his preparations for Leicester Tigers’ vital East Midlands derby with Northampton Saints on Saturday to help coach the Red Roses before they face Ireland in the Six Nations.

The England women’s team continue their quest to win a sixth consecutive title at Twickenham on Saturday, with about 50,000 fans expected to attend.

On Wednesday, Youngs joined England’s scrum halves Natasha Hunt, Lucy Packer and Ella Wyrwas in camp, taking them through drills specific to their position — from fizzing passes off lineouts and scrums to box-kicking.
