South Carolina Congressman Jim Clyburn shared his thoughts on a recent campaign video released by his party's nominee for Governor in South Carolina.
Clyburn was in Greenville Tuesday night for an event benefitting a scholarship in memory of his late wife, Emily.
Last week, Joe Cunningham, the Democratic nominee for governor, released a campaign video in which he called for term limits and age limits for politicians.
In it, he was critical of McMaster's age and time in office, saying McMaster has been in politics longer than he has been alive.
"Out country and our state are being run by a geriatric oligarchy," Cunningham said.
When asked by WYFF 4 how he felt about the video, the 81-year-old Majority Whip didn't mince words.
"Joe needs to grow up," Clyburn said.
Political experts have argued Clyburn's endorsement of President Joe Biden in 2019 helped lead Biden to victory in the South Carolina Primary and helped propel him into the White House.
Cunningham faces Republican Gov. Henry McMaster in the general election in November.
