I-15 closed north of Idaho Falls due to poor visibility

IDAHO FALLS — Interstate 15 north of Idaho Falls is closed due to low visibility from blowing dust, according to Idaho State Police.

The interstate is closed at the U.S. Highway 20 interchange in Idaho Falls to Idaho Highway 33 near Roberts. The closure began shortly around 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

A high wind warning is in effect across most of eastern Idaho. Winds from 35 to 45 mph with gusts around 60 mph are expected throughout the day, according to the National Weather Service. Wind gusts up to 70 mph are predicted across the Arco Desert and the INL north and east toward Idaho Falls and Rexburg.

The warning will be in effect from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and includes the Craters of the Moon, Atomic City, Mud Lake, Idaho Falls, Ammon, Rigby, Rexburg, and St. Anthony areas.
