Donald Trump told Americans only to vote for Joe Biden if they wanted further lockdowns and an economic "depression" - before being gushed over by Nigel Farage.

With less than a week to go before the US election, Biden is the clear front runner by an average of 9.2 points but the Democrats will know from four years ago to avoid sitting comfortably.

As many as 74 million Americans have already voted either through early voting in person, or through postal ballots - something Trump has repeatedly, and falsely, claimed is vulnerable to fraud.

The incumbent leader, apparently mocking California Governor Gavin Newsom's tweet advising restaurant diners to "keep your mask on between bites", said the state must have "special masks".

White House infectious disease expert Dr Anthony Fauci has warned Trump's packed political rallies were bound to spread Covid-19 due to lack of coverings - but yesterday they also saw supporters hospitalised after being left out in the cold.

Trump controversially urged American states to shun coronavirus lockdowns during a packed rally in Goodyear, Arizona, warning a Biden presidency would lead to a "depression".

"If you vote for Joe Biden it means no kids in school, no graduations, no weddings, no thanksgivings, no Christmas, and no Fourth of July together.

"Other than that you'll have a wonderful life. Can't see anybody, but that's alright," he added in a mocking tone.

The bizarre declaration was made by the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy in a listing of Trump's accomplishments since taking office.

It read: "From the outset of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Administration has taken decisive actions to engage scientists and health professionals in academic, industry, and government to understand, treat and defeat the disease."

But officials on the White House  coronavirus  taskforce are reportedly upset at the claim - with one calling it "mind-boggling".

At least seven Trump supporters were hospitalised after hundreds were left stranded in the freezing cold after a rally in Omaha, Nebraska, ended in chaos with traffic jams preventing buses reaching attendees.

Supporters of the President, including many elderly attendees, were left exposed to the elements for several hours.

Biden has slammed Trump - who flew off in Air Force one immediately after speaking - for the fiasco.

The President introduced Brexit  Party leader Nigel Farage onstage in Arizona, claiming "a lot of people say one of the most powerful men in Europe".

The former Ukipper went on to lavish Trump with praise for several minutes, describing him as "the single most resilient and bravest person I have ever met in my life".

He then finished with a thinly-veiled pop at British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, adding: "You are voting for the only current leader in the free world who has got the guts to stand up and fight."

Joe Biden and his wife Jill cast their ballots on Wednesday - joining 74 million Americans who have voted early in the 2020 election.

The frontrunner voted at the Carvel State Office Building in his home town of Wilmington, Delaware.

Trump, who has been holding more campaign events in battleground states amid rising  coronavirus  cases, voted for himself on Saturday at a public library across the street from one of his golf clubs in the battleground state of Florida, now his official permanent residence.
