PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — The Virginia Department of Health is reporting 900 additional cases of COVID-19 and 11 new deaths related to the virus.
As of Sunday morning, October 18, Virginia has an overall number of 166,138 COVID-19 cases since the start of the outbreak. Of the 900 cases reported from Saturday, 770 have been confirmed by testing. Another 130 were probable cases, in which a patient who shows symptoms is diagnosed without testing.
The Virginia Department of Health also reported 30 new residents hospitalized due to the coronavirus.

Accomack 1,200 cases, 94 hospitalized, 19 deaths (+no changes)
Chesapeake: 4,730 cases, 459 hospitalized, 78 deaths (+16 cases, +2 deaths)
Franklin: 474 cases, 22 hospitalized, 12 deaths (+7 cases)
Gloucester: 333 cases, 17 hospitalized, 3 deaths (+5 cases, +2 hospitalized)
Hampton: 2,033 cases, 86 hospitalized, 29 deaths (+8 cases)
Isle of Wight: 819 cases, 40 hospitalized, 22 deaths (+3 cases, +1 hospitalized)
James City County: 919 cases, 67 hospitalized, 21 deaths (+7 cases)
Mathews: 131 cases, 10 hospitalized, 0 deaths (+4 cases, +2 hospitalized)
Newport News: 3,044 cases, 113 hospitalized, 49 deaths (+13 cases)
Norfolk: 5,179 cases, 396 hospitalized, 84 deaths (+10 cases, +1 hospitalized, +2 deaths)
Northampton: 312 cases, 49 hospitalized, 31 deaths (+no change)
Poquoson: 88 cases, 3 hospitalized, 2 deaths (no change)
Portsmouth: 2,719 cases, 294 hospitalized, 64 deaths (+4 cases)
Southampton: 898 cases, 27 hospitalized, 31 deaths (+14 cases)
Suffolk: 2,245 cases, 131 hospitalized, 77 deaths (+9 cases)
Virginia Beach: 7,537 cases, 417 hospitalized, 102 deaths (+24 cases)
Williamsburg: 204 cases, 13 hospitalized, 8 deaths (no change)
York: 616 cases, 17 hospitalized, 9 deaths (no change)
Overall, Hampton Roads and the Tidewater region reported a total of 124 cases Saturday which is 13% of the daily increase statewide.
According to the Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association, 972 residents in Virginia are currently hospitalized due to the virus. That number is a combination of confirmed positive COVID-19 patients and hospitalized patients whose COVID-19 test results are still pending.
