Charlie and Dave and Pat and Art and YOU:     The T.V. Show “Friends” is reaching a new generation, the Emmy Awards had a big “oops” last night, and the “Downton Abbey” movie cast should have asked The WSGW Morning Team how to solve a “difficult” problem they had when shooting the movie (runs 5:22)…..

For the second time in baseball history, our Tigers are part of a rare group of teams…..
With the Royals losing on Sunday, Kansas City, Baltimore, Miami, and our Tigers all have 100 losses.   It’s just the second time four teams recorded 100 losses in one season.    The first time was 2002 when our Tigers, the Royals, Milwaukee, and Tampa Bay all lost at least 100 games.
On the other end of the win-loss spectrum are the Yankees, Astros, and Dodgers, all winners of at least 100 games.   It’s the third consecutive year three teams have reached the century mark.   Before this run, there were three 100-game winners in the years of 1942, 1977, 1998, 2002, and 2003.

Oops!   Geography matters…..
WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) – A Massachusetts woman thought she was signing up to run a half marathon near her home, not across the Atlantic Ocean.   Sheila Pereira learned too late that the Worcester City Half Marathon was actually being held in Worcester, England, and not Worcester, Massachusetts, on September 15.
She decided to run 13 miles that day anyway, only on this side of the pond.
The Boston Globe reports Pereira sent the English race organizers a picture of her route from Worcester to Shrewsbury.   The 42-year-old runner’s fitness app showed she completed her own half marathon in 2 hours, 5 minutes.   After Pereira explained the mix-up, the Worcester City Half Marathon sent along a medal, a shirt and encouragement to travel the 3,000 miles to participate in person in next year’s race.

Microsoft says the 2020 elections will be safe…..
WASHINGTON (AP) – Microsoft says it’ll offer free security updates through the 2020 election in the United States for federally certified voting systems running on soon-to-be-outdated Windows 7 software.   Microsoft says they’ll also offer the updates to other democratic countries with national elections next year that are interested.
An Associated Press analysis previously found that the vast majority of election jurisdictions in the U.S. use Windows 7 or an older operating system to create ballots, program voting machines, tally votes and report counts.
Windows 7 reaches its “end of life“ on January 14th, meaning Microsoft stops providing free technical support and producing “patches“ to fix software vulnerabilities, which hackers can exploit.   Cash-strapped election officials have been scrambling to address that problem.
