The 3.6% growth rate ranked as the No. 21 highest rate in the United States and second in New England.

New England construction-employment growth rates year over year:

  • New Hampshire: Increased 4.1% year over year to 28,000 jobs.

“Construction demand remains robust across most states, and contractors continue to add workers when they can find them,” stated AGCA Chief Economist Ken Simonson. “But contractors are struggling to find all the workers they need in many states, as shown by the historically high number of job openings at the end of May.”

Gov. Gina M. Raimondo announced this week the R.I. Department of Labor and Training will begin outreach to develop a Real Jobs Rhode Island training program for commercial construction jobs in partnership with local commercial construction employers.
