VETERANS JOB FAIR PROVIDES EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR TUSCALOOSA RESIDENTS

The lines were long Thursday morning at the Tuscaloosa Veterans Job Fair at the McDonald Hughes Community Center.

The U.S. Army, PARA and Alabama Works teamed up with the Tuscaloosa Career Center to bring 62 employers under one roof.

With unemployment very low, companies are very competitive in recruiting prospective employees.

While the focus was originally on military veterans, anyone looking for a job or a job change was encouraged to attend.

“It’s been great. Everybody has been super nice,” Jobseeker Taylor Skelton said. “Everybody has been very helpful so I’ve loved it so far. I’ve met a lot of people, there is a lot of opportunities here.”

Organizers said that the 62 companies who attended the event had more than 1,000 jobs available.
