Conference to Explore Port Security Challenges and Emerging Capabilities

/EIN News/ Los Angeles, May 20, 2009 - The Association of Naval Aviation, in association with Technology Training Corporation, will host a conference on Port Security, in San Diego, CA, June 11-12, 2009.

The conference assembles the government and industry experts who are the forefront in developing the strategies, plans, systems and technologies to ensure the safety of U. S. seaports and the maritime supply chain. They will examine: (a) how critical maritime domain awareness initiatives are shaping U. S. Navy, Coast Guard, and Homeland Security procurement plans and requirements; (b) the latest regulatory (TWIC, SAFE Port, C-TPAT, etc.) initiatives and compliance strategies; (c) cutting edge technologies for port surveillance and monitoring.

Numerous highlights will include presentations by: Rear Admiral William Goodwin, Assistant Chief of Naval Operations, on the new Navy Next Generation Enterprise Network; an overview of the new U.S. Coast Guard Force Readiness Command; discussion of port and maritime security plans and initiatives from DHS, TSA, Customs and Border Protection, USCG and USN; a sweeping examination of maritime domain awareness needs and capabilities by representatives from the USCG MDA Program Integration office, the Maritime Administration, the Office of Global Maritime Situational Awareness, and senior industry experts; and an exhaustive analysis of port security activities at the district, sector and port authority level by senior representatives from the 11th Coast Guard District, the USCG San Diego sector, and the ports of Long Beach, Los Angeles, and San Diego.
