Boehner Names Strodel Chief Administrative Officer of House

Washington
(Dec 15)

House Speaker-designate John Boehner (R-OH) today announced that he will nominate Daniel J. Strodel for a second term as Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of the House on January 5, 2011, the opening day of the 112 th   Congress.
Strodel was first elected CAO on July 18, 2010 following more than two decades of service in a wide range of institutional positions within the House and Senate.  As CAO, Strodel directs the offices responsible for House operating budgets, financial management, procurement, payroll and benefits, information technology, food services, office equipment and furnishings, cyber security, and broadcast services.
“Professionally, Dan Strodel has literally grown up in the House,” said Boehner.   “Fresh out of college, he started out as a payroll and benefits counselor in the Finance Office where he learned how much Members of Congress depend on first-rate support services in their day-to-day work on behalf of the American people.  Dan’s steady leadership has made a real difference in his first months as CAO and I’m pleased to nominate him for a second term.”
Strodel has served at nearly every level of management during his years in the House and Senate, including Director of Personnel and Benefits, Director of Human Resources for the U.S. Capitol Police, General Counsel to the House Sergeant at Arms,  Legal Counsel for the Clerk of the House, General Counsel to the Senate Sergeant at Arms, and Senior Advisor to the Committee on House Administration.
“It’s been an honor to serve the Congress in every position I’ve held, but I’m especially grateful to Speaker-designate Boehner for permitting me to lead the first organization for which I worked here in the House.  Every one of us in the CAO organization shares the goal of doing all we can to support the important work done by Members of Congress and their staffs.”
Strodel holds an undergraduate degree from Hobart College and a law degree from the Catholic University of America.  He is a member of the bar of the Supreme Court of the United States.
