IGEL TECHNOLOGY AND GLACIER COMPUTER ANNOUNCE RELEASE OF RUGGED IGEL THIN CLIENT SOLUTION

Linux-based software allows for maximum performance and remote terminal management.

/New Milford, CT - September 3, 2008/ - Glacier Computer announced today that IGEL Technology, the world's third largest thin client vendor, has released their IGEL-5310 LX Premium Image for the Glacier Everest rugged industrial computer. The Everest is an all-in-one rugged computer designed for harsh environments. Common installations are onboard forklift computers, warehouse walls, and at shop floor data collection stations. The IGEL 5310 thin client is designed specifically for software environments that require rich digital services, maximum performance, and security.

"Glacier has had a long history of selling Windows XP-based thick client solutions into a variety of applications and industries. Adding the IGEL-5310 Linux-based thin client solution significantly broadens our offerings and offers customers a powerful yet easy to use interface that's easily supported," states Dan Poisson, Director of Engineering for Glacier.

Unlike traditional PCs, which process applications locally and hence require powerful microprocessors, storage and memory, thin clients rely on a server to process applications and data and then provide end user access to various services. Through its 'Universal Desktop' approach, IGEL is able to deliver any PC application to the Glacier Everest users with such a quality experience, that they don't realize they're not working on a thick PC. IGEL's solution is ideal for creating access to multiple digital services simultaneously, including terminal application environments, web-based applications, virtual PCs, VoIP, SAP, multi-media and a wide range of others.

"This joint offering brings much more than just a Linux-based industrialized computer to end-users," said Dirk Dordelmann, Director Augsburg Branch, Product/R&D Management. "With the addition of the IGEL image, Glacier customers will reap the increased security and manageability benefits of a thin client, while still being able to access all of their applications and data. This solution is a particularly good fit for shared desktop environments, such as manufacturing floors, because it allows users to login to their personal system from any device, giving them the freedom to roam."

Bundled with every IGEL/Glacier thin client is a full version of the IGEL Remote Management Suite. This powerful yet easy-to-use tool allows users to manage the Glacier hardware remotely, saving money and reducing time. The software is extremely open and network friendly to fit into any organization's existing infrastructure, and enables IT administrators to manage hundreds or thousands devices at once, quickly setting up user profiles, changing device settings, re-imaging devices with new updates, and performing diagnostics and support with the click of a mouse.
