USD law students’ bar passage rates rise to 82 percent

Based on results from the July bar exam, the USD law school’s first-time passage rate rose to 82 percent.

This is the second consecutive increase in bar passage rates, after the February exam saw a first-time passage rate of 70 percent.

In a university press release, Tom Geu, dean of the law school, said he congratulates the recent graduates who saw their hard work for three years pay off.

“We know they will represent the USD School of Law well,” Geu said in the press release.

Geu said the improvement is due to the addition of a required bar examination course and also from new curriculum practices developed by the faculty.

“We are pleased to see the bar passage rate trending upwards,” Geu said in the press release. “It validates the many changes we’ve made in recent years.”
