Vice President Mike Pence is set to campaign in Ohio and support a candidate Friday ahead of August’s special election race, according to a Monday report.

Pence will reportedly host a fundraiser for Republican state Sen. Troy Balderson, who is running against Democratic candidate Danny O’Connor in the Aug. 7 special election, according to Politico. The seat was held by former Ohio Republican Rep. Pat Tiberi, who announced in October that he would be leaving congress by Jan. 31. Tiberi backed Balderson and even helped pay for television ad’s from his own campaign account in support of the state senator.

The news comes as Pence is also scheduled to host events in June for two other Republicans running for office and appear at Republican Governors Association event later that month. The vice president has continued to campaign for Republican candidates across the country prior to the 2018 midterm elections.

President Donald Trump won the Ohio district by 11 points in the 2016 presidential election. (RELATED: Pence On Mueller Investigation: ‘It’s Time To Wrap It Up’ [VIDEO])
