NOAA Weather radio alerts impacted by tower collapse in Fordland

The National Weather Service warns its NOAA Weather radio broadcast from the Fordland area is off the air.

And it likely will stay that way for an extended period of time. The radio broadcast transmitter was on KOZK-TV's tower in Fordland. The tower collapsed Thursday morning, killing a crew member working on maintenance. The National Weather Service says it will re-establish connections for warnings to enter into the Emergency Alert System.

For the time being, NOAA Weather Radio stations in Branson West, Gainesville, Hermitage, Neosho and Cassville will provide backup for much of the area previously covered by the broadcast from Fordland. Check here for the counties and frequencies served by these transmitters:
