HBO’s Silicon Valley star TJ Miller has reached an agreement outside of court with the Uber driver he allegedly assaulted in 2016. The altercation took place after Miller reportedly got into an argument with his driver about none other than Donald Trump.

According to TMZ, the two reached a settlement on Thursday, nearly two years after Miller was initially arrested for beating the driver up. Miller was apparently heavily under of the influence of a few substances, including several cans of nitrous oxide cans called “whip its.” The exact terms of the settlement have not been disclosed but TMZ speculates the driver got a pretty handsome amount of cash.

I’m no expert but this guy sounds like a grade-A moron. Not only was this alleged argument about something completely immutable but Miller was on the wrong side of the fence here. His Uber driver simply told him that he supported the President-elect, not that he was going to kill his firstborn. Not to mention, Miller was coming back from a GQ Men Of The Year party. Which means GQ – the same place that produced Keith Olbermann –  thought Miller was a respectable enough guy to actually reward his behavior. Now granted, he didn’t beat up his driver until after he left the GQ party but there’s a good chance Miller was the same idiot a few hours before.

Remember, this is the guy who exited “Silicon Valley” in the least graceful way possible. Execs claim Miller had significant “demons” and self medicated with a wide array of substances, which eventually got in the way of his work. They claim he’d often “drink till [he] passed out,” and would show up to set under the influence, and sometimes not at all. He was released from the show this year after the problem got too out of control. So this little Uber incident seems about par for the course.
