BREVARD COUNTY • PORT CANAVERAL, FLORIDA – Port Canaveral remains on the frontline for shipping much-needed utility poles and equipment to Puerto Rico for the recovery efforts.

The latest shipment includes about 1,200 wooden poles which left on Friday, bound for Puerto Rico.

The shipment will take about a week to arrive.  It’s being loaded onto the Atlanta Bridge cargo barge and will be towed to Puerto Rico by the C.F. Campbell tugboat.

“Not counting Friday’s shipment, 28,107 poles have been shipped out and with today’s 1,200 will take it close to the original goal of 30,000 poles due to the great need,” said Steven Linden, Port Canaveral Director of Communications and Public Affairs in a release.

“Ambassador Services Inc. is shipping the FEMA supplies out of their warehouse in cooperation with Crowley Maritime Corporation.”

Ambassador Services has been a full-time maritime terminal operator since 1994 at Port Canaveral.
