Happening this week in Agriculture, faster internet will soon be on the way to rural America.

Earlier this week, President Donald Trump signed an executive order to expand access to broadband infrastructure to rural areas.

Trump addressed the annual convention of the American Farm Bureau Federation Monday afternoon in Nashville, Tennessee.

As it is now, about 39% of rural Americans don't have access to high speed broadband internet.

We spoke with Senator Roy Blunt of Missouri as part of our Connect to Congress initiative.

He says that statistic is higher in Missouri.

"I was glad to see the president announce some expedited procedures for tower siting on government property and government buildings to make it quicker, easier, and cheaper to get the towers up," says Senator Blunt.

Here's what's next, White House officials said all work is in the early stages and did not offer an overall timeline for the project to be complete.

It comes with a price tag of about $80 billion.
