Gloucester County Habitat ReStore recognized for sustainability

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection recently recognized New Jersey Habitat for Humanity ReStores -- including the Gloucester County ReStore -- for its achievements in source reduction, resource management and sustainability with its annual Recycling Award.

The GCHFH ReStore, located in Pitman, promotes environmental consciousness by selling new and gently used furniture, building supplies and appliances, thus reducing landfill waste in Gloucester County.

"We are honored to be recognized for our efforts to sustain a healthy environment and improve communities in Gloucester County," stated Anthony Isabella, GCHFH executive director. "Our ReStore covers our operational costs, as well as construction costs for our partner family homes.

"So when someone donates or shops at our ReStore, not only are they helping us build our partner family homes, but they are also helping to preserve the environment by essentially 'recycling' goods."

While those who wish to donate can drop off their donations at the Pitman ReStore during store hours -- between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. -- the affiliate will pick up larger items free-of-charge within Gloucester County.
