1992 - The Indonesia Solo Exhibition ‘92 opened on the ship Caraka Jaya III at Mina Zayed, showcasing industrial and high-technology goods from ten of Indonesia’s strategic industries. “We expect the exhibition to lead to an increase in trade transactions between Indonesia and the UAE,” said Giri Hadihardjono, vice-chairman of the Indonesian Agency for Strategic Industries (BPIS), at the opening. BPIS supports the ten strategic industries which are showing their wares in the four-day exhibition, staged aboard a converted container vessel at the port. Among other goods on display are heavy machinery, explosives, rail rolling stock, aircraft from IPTN, steel from Krakatau Steel, weapons from Pindad and vessels from Pal Indonesia.
