The Village Voice laid off 13 of its 17 unionized workers on Wednesday — a week after it accounced the end of its print edition.

Management let staffers know on Wednesday afternoon, according to The New York Times, which was first to report the layoffs on Thursday.

The workers belong to United Auto Workers Local 2110.

Union President Maida Rosenstein told The Times she was “shocked” when she learned how many were being let go.

Most of the employees hit by the layoffs are on the production and selling side — jobs that were tied to the former distribution of the print paper, a Village Voice spokeswoman told The Times.
