Jim Harbaugh eyes Barack Obama as honorary Michigan captain to follow Tom Brady, Michael Jordan

Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh wants more firepower at the honorary captain position for the Wolverines this fall.

MLive is reporting Harbaugh is planning to invite former President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle as honorary captains.

"We're making those asks," Harbaugh said, per MLive.com. "Official asks. Yes we're in the process of making an official ask. There'd been, 'hey we'd like you to do it.' Now the official ask."

Last year, Harbaugh had Michael Jordan, Tom Brady and Hank Aaron as honorary captains.

Harbaugh served on Michelle Obama's education committee. Harbaugh and his wife Sarah were invited to one of the Obamas' final parties in January before leaving the White House.

This past week when Harbaugh was in D.C. to speak on behalf of the Legal Services Corporation about legal aid for the underprivileged.

"It was incredible. Spent 39 wonderful minutes with President Obama (last week), saw Mrs. Obama as well," he said. "He was great. He's relaxed, working on a lot of things. A book. He shared a lot of insights."
