Jimmy Kimmel says baby ‘is doing great’ after surgery

Jimmy Kimmel‘s happy update on the condition of his son also served as a call to action.

“Billy is 3 months old & doing great. Thx for the love & support,” the late night host along wrote Friday along with a picture of the smiling baby. “Please remind your Congresspeople that every kid deserves the care he got.”

Billy was born in April with a heart disease which Kimmel revealed in an emotional monologue a few days after the baby recovered from an emergency open-heart surgery.

In his tearful speech, the dad-of-two told the story from the moment nurses realized something wasn’t quite right with his newborn to his speedy recovery post-surgery a few days later. He ended with talking about President Trump’s proposal to cut $6 billion worth of funding to the National Institute of Health and how all Americans deserve the level of health care that was given to his infant son.

“If your baby is going to die and it doesn’t have to, it shouldn’t matter how much money you make … Whether you’re a Republican or a Democrat or something else, we all agree on that, right?” he said.

According to Kimmel’s monologue, Billy will need follow-up surgery within the next couple months, and then another procedure in his teens.

Kimmel and his wife Molly McNearney are also parents to three-year-old girl. The funnyman has two adult children with ex Gina Maddy.
