Seth Meyers jokes Melania Trump is decorating White House with a rope ladder

Late-night host Seth Meyers mocked the first family on Thursday night over the White House’s holiday decorations, joking that first lady Melania Trump was decorating the White House with a “rope ladder.”

The NBC host of “The Late Show with Seth Meyers” joked that Melania Trump was using the holiday occasion to make her escape from the Trump White House.

“Photos were released yesterday of first lady Melania Trump decorating the White House for the holidays, though I’m not sure a rope ladder counts as a decoration,” Meyers joked, showing a manipulated picture of an escape ladder being lowered from a second-story White House window.

“‘It’s a custom in my country,'” Meyers joked, impersonating the first lady, who is from Slovenia.

Meyers also mocked President Trump for tweeting about high numbers of Americans traveling for the Thanksgiving holiday.

“51 Million American to travel this weekend – highest number in twelve years (AAA). Traffic and airports are running very smoothly!” Trump tweeted on Wednesday.

Meyers read the tweet aloud before adding his own addition to the end.

“And now, lets throw it over to Kevin with sports,” Meyers added, mocking the president’s delivery.

Meyers previously joked this week that Twitter’s recent decision to raise its character count to 280 means that the president is working twice as hard.

“Only Trump could get ‘We’re going to be working very hard’ and ‘We’re going to Florida’ in the same sentence,” Meyers said Wednesday, referring to Trump’s tweet about heading to his Florida resort for the Thanksgiving holiday.

“Maybe Trump thinks he’s working hard because Twitter went from 140 characters to 280. ‘My workload has doubled.'”

The host continued to imitate a parody Trump, saying, “‘Sometimes I have to type tax cuts and #MAGA in the same tweet.'”

Trump and his family are spending Thanksgiving at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago golf resort in Florida. The first family is expected to return to Washington, D.C. on Sunday.
