From The Trussville Tribune staff reports
TRUSSVILLE –In an unscientific online poll conducted by The Trussville Tribune, Republican Roy Moore led Democrat Doug Jones by a healthy margin.
The poll limited participating IP addresses to one entry and had 2,741 participants. The Tribune covers the cities of Trussville, Clay, Pinson, Center Point, Argo and Springville in Jefferson and St. Clair counties.
When asked who participants would vote for in Alabama’s U.S. Senate race, 58.5 percent chose Moore over Jones with 35 percent. Less than 4 percent said they would not vote and less than 2 percent said they would write in a candidate.
Asked if they were affiliated with a political party, 46.5 percent of participants identified as Republican, 33 percent said they were independent, and 22 percent said Democrat.
The poll participants identified as conservative 55 percent of the time, moderate 30 percent, and liberal 15 percent.
Asked if they believed the allegations about Moore, 50 percent did not, 36 percent did believe the allegations and 14 percent were undecided.
Most, 82 percent, said they were not swayed by the allegations, but 15 percent said they were.
Almost 60 percent of participants voted for Donald Trump. Nearly 27 percent voted for Hillary Clinton and and 13 percent said they did not vote in the 2016 presidential election.
For those who did not believe the allegations against Moore, the reasoning was equally split among those who didn’t believe the accusers, those who didn’t trust media, and those who said the allegations were not proven in a court of law.

Do you think it’s more about party than person? Is this a moral standoff with 2 immoral candidates?

Plus two points for “is this a moral standoff with two immoral candidates”

It’s a shame it’s gotten to this point but I like asking the tough questions. 😂😂😂

Don, I think that’s a really good way to put it. I had already decided not to vote for Moore and I absolutely will not vote for Jones. My only concern is that there are 144 federal judge positions currently open that will be appointed soon.

Scott Buttram this is me watching this election.

It’s sad, but when forced into a corner you have to do something. We have been trained to believe we are choosing the lesser of 2 evils. It’s proven Doug Jones is ok with murder, and there are allegations against Moore. Both are despicable but one is proven and the other is allegations. What some want you to do is vacate common sense and be shamed into voting for their candidate. The irony is that that’s the party that is so against shaming. This truly will be a vote of morals for Alabama and I’m interested to see where that leads us.
