(WTNH)–A new report out Tuesday ranks the states that are best for business, and Connecticut did not receive good marks. The state came in 44th place.
The Tax Foundation, a think tank in Washington, D.C., looked at which tax codes could attract business and create jobs. States with simple, transparent and neutral tax systems did well in the rankings, while states with complicated tax systems did poorly.
“This year, a lot of states took a wait and see approach. Cautious about implementing major new tax reforms or plans as they waited to see what the federal government does,” said Jared Walczak of the Tax Foundation.
The Tax Foundation says the five best states for business are Wyoming, South Dakota, Alaska, Florida, and Nevada.
The five worst were Minnesota, Vermont, California, New York, and New Jersey.
