Dozens of people circled the Regional Veterans Memorial at Columbia Park in Kennewick tonight to honor the soldiers from Washington state who gave their lives for our freedom and the Gold Star families they left behind.

The candlelight vigil was one of a few events set for the 11th annual Time of Remembrance.

Participants listened to music and poetry.

Ambassador Ryan Crocker is the guest speaker for this year's Time of Remembrance. He says it's important to remember the men and women who fought and died, as well as their families.

“I just feel a tremendously strong connection to these men and women who have lost something unimaginable. “

There will be a memorial ceremony Sunday morning that will feature the reading of the names.

That event takes place 10:30 A.M. at Flat Top Park in West Richland.
