White House changes site programming

The White House website code is now written in public view.

Washington, D.C. (WiredPRNews.com) – The White House has reportedly made changes to its website programming. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the code for the government website is now written in a format available for editing and viewing by the public.

White House new media director Macon Phillips is quoted by the AP as stating of the change, “We now have a technology platform to get more and more voices on the site… This is state-of-the-art technology and the government is a participant in it.”

Terri Molini of Open Source for America is further quoted as stating of the security of such formats, “Security is fundamentally built into the development process because the community is made up of people from all across the world, and they look at the source code from the very start of the process until it’s deployed and after.”
